Listen Carefully: International Noise Awareness Day

April 29, 2015 by sammyhagar

Today, people and organizations around the world are commemorating the 20th annual International Noise Awareness Day.

Last month, the World Health Organization released data that 1.1 billion teenagers and young adults are at risk for hearing loss due to unsafe listening practices.

On Wednesday, April 29th, people and organizations around the world will commemorate the 20th annual International Noise Awareness Day.

As you know, Sammy Hagar has been involved with Starkey Hearing Foundation for a couple of years, most recently, traveling with their team to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, to help give the gift of hearing to local residents. Aside from helping to provide over 100,000 free hearing aids to people in need each year, Starkey Hearing Foundation also aims to combat preventable hearing loss.  For more info on that please visit the blog post at: http://www.redrocker.com/redheads/user/sammyhagar/blog/amazing-experience-starkey-hearing-foundation-more-adventures-cabo

Their Listen Carefully program works with musicians and educators across the country to encourage youth to turn down the volume and protect their hearing.  Sammy Hagar recently joined the Listen Carefully team to help raise awareness about noise-induced hearing loss, which affects 1 in 6 teens and has increased 30 percent in the last decade.
