First time for b-day bash, have some questions
August 21, 2017 by jd-underdog
Finally got lucky and scored 2 tickets to the first night birthday bash show! very excited! having never done this before I have a few questions for all you veterans. How many tickets are sold for each show? (how many people will the cantina hold) also i assume from what I have seen, there are no seats just standing room only? when should you go get it in line for a good spot or are they all good spots? just trying to be prepared thanks for all your help. any other tips or suggestions are totally welcome! looking forward to partying with a bunch of red heads!

MotleyBrue,
Well for starters love the screen name. Now onto the question the front area has no elevation, but if you can get up front won't have as much crowd to contend with. The back floor area has a little bit of elevation, but puts you a ways back from the stage.
Any suggestions for short people and location to stand. My wife is 5'1" and will be 28 weeks pregnant by then.? thx
Depends on how "hard-core" of a fan you are. I've seen a lot of Sammy's concerts and won't go unless I'm in the 1st 5 rows. We got there by 7 and worked our way to the 3rd row fairly easily. I've had several banners signed by Sammy, including one on his Birthday Bash video televised on AXS. In all the years of trying, we've only got selected one year (for 2 shows).
Redrocker327,,,, The "local drummer" was Alex Gonzalez, from the mainland and is in the band Mana. When he plays, it is one of the few times you will see the security guards watch the show and not the crowd. His nickname is Animal. Which is understood by the way he plays.
he is a legit Mexican rockstar. They have sold over 40 million records and have won both American and Latin grammy awards.
This will my first year seeing the first show. I'm hoping it has some extra energy as well. I've seen 5 of his shows and honestly, his actual birthday shows have been my least favorite. That's selfish of me I understand since it's Sammy's birthday. But, he just seems wore out by then. I was at the outdoor show in 2011 and it seemed like it was over before I knew what hit me. It was a very early concert too because of it being outside. I think everything was done by 8:30 or so.
As for where to stand. I tried the floor once and I don't need that again. Too territorial down there. Heaven forbid if you have to take a leak. You'll be fighting, literally, your way back to your place. There's always a few in every crowd that has to be like that.
Hopefully, since this is his 70th, we'll see some special guests. I'm a big Kenny Chesney fan, so maybe he'll make an appearance. I don't really care who the guests are, it would be fun to just see some more good music before Sammy comes down.
Looking forward to another trip to Cabo! Enjoy it, because you never know when Sammy gonna say he's had enough. I certainly wouldn't blame him.
I went to three last year finally accomplishing my mission of getting into all shows I was in for. I had to do line time for two. Your right though on the guests. It has gotten to be lower from previous years. He had Jerry Cantrell, Vinnie Paul, and a local band drummer last year. I got to meet Vinnie two years ago nice guy. Right now I am going ticketless for this year, but main goal is to get into night one. I have two couples that I met previous years who won for that night.
I went to 2 last year and they were both about 1:20 min. I usually go to 2 shows each year and they have been getting shorter each year it seems plus last year only guest the 2 nights I was there was guy from Alice in Chains but have been there when more guests which tends to make it longer show but the ones with no guests have been pretty short IMO. Still great time just not like the days when I started going 12 years ago either and they would all be 2+hours!
CaboNFall,
Was that a recent BDB year one was that short. I have been going for almost a decade and do not remember one that short. I have read some of his shows on this current tour were only that.
All really good info. I will add though the shows aren't nearly that long any more, closer to 1:15min. If you show up 7ish you will still get a decent spot. The dinner people will get in before everyone else so don't expect to get to the stage even if you got there at 2pm. The club is small enough that you will be able to see and hear everything. Yes 1st night is usually my favorite as well.
Hello JD-Underdog,
Night 1 is one of my favorite nights to get tickets for the bash. All of the nights are fun, but everyone is really pumped on Night 1. Some times special guests come out on night 1. You are going to have a blast. There are no seats or tables on BDB show nights. There are going to be many lines going on. You will see people in line camping out for dinner/show tickets. There are 150 of those tickets being sold. People will be sleeping on the streets for days for those tickets. There are 3 dinners 5:00 Pm , 6:30 and 8:00pm. You get dinner and entry into the show. Since they are starting dinner and hour earlier this year, the doors could open up sooner than 7:00 pm. On the day of the show you will see people lining up early in the morning to get into the show. From October 8-14 it is all about The LINES. It is very hot in Cabo during October. Some people forget to drink water and overheat, mainly because they are drinking alcohol and they forget to drink water. My advice is to make sure you are drinking more water than you usually drink to stay hydrated. Have fun and see ya in Cabo.
Congratulations on getting tix. The capacity is in the area of 800 to 900. It gets very packed on the front floor area. The wristbands are given out around 2ish each show day. You will have to show ID to prove your a winner. They have a winners manifest to check against. The wristbands are put on you and if you got two your guest after verifying. Do not remove them or else no admittance. If you did get two the guest must be with you at time of pick up. Yes it is standing for the regular fans. Speaking of that part be prepared for hours of standing to get a good spot. The doors open at 7ish and show start is 9:30 to 10. For a decent spot usually getting in line at 4ish will get that. It gets hot inside as they usually do not turn fans on until near showtime. The shows are 1hr 30min to 2 hours. I don't think there is really a bad spot, but if your on the back floor area the view can be obscured. Any other questions ask away.
