What Guitar?
June 25, 2012 by mogray5150
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows what guitar it was that Sammy used that had the "I can't drive 55" sticker inside the acoustic soundhole? It was a thin Electric acoustic, woth the controls on the front I believe. Can anyone hep me out?? Thanks,
Mike

Yes, you are correct!! I wasn't even thinking back that far! Good memory! Totally forgot about the Van Halen Solos...kind of weird how each one would get a little time on stage alone! I could understand Eddie's time, but it was kind of show slower downer as I remember!

During VH tours 1991-93, during Sammy's solo spot he would play a Gibson Chet Atkins CEC guitar. Sammy had placed a "55" sticker in the fake sound hole of the guitar. Sammy started playing Washburn guitars during the 1995 VH "Balance" tour.
Here's a link for a picture of the guitar

Hi, The only guitar he used that had a sound hole would be the Washburn MR-250, but I don't think I've ever seen it with a sticker in it! It really didn't have big enough holes! He played some Washburns solid bodies, the RR-100 & RR-150 & put stickers on those alot back in the late 90's! Hope this helps!
