Excitement to Disappointment
The excitement... I packed up my 2 little girls (5 and 9), wife (a true redhead) and headed into Toronto (about 40 miles to go). The book-signing was between 2-4pm... and I even called ahead of time to confirm the timing (and was told there was lots of time for us to make it).
The disappointment... We arrived at 3:10, only to find out Sammy and his crew had packed up and left. I tried explaining the situation to my older daughter (9), but she too was a little disappointed. Her favourite song is Dreams, and she wanted to meet Sammy in person to tell him that.
Next, we then asked if there were any signed-copies of the book remaining; however, they too were unavailable (kinda strange when he only left a few minutes prior to our arrival).
Like Sammy, I'm a pretty positive guy, so I'm sure this was a case of business-as-a-rockstar. It won't deter my feelings about Sammy and his music... he will always be one of my favourites.
So, we bought the book, 'un-signed and un-personal', and made our way home.
The lesson - for all you redheads, get there when it starts, cause you don't want your excitement turned to disappointment.

Iam so sorry to hear that, especially for your little girl. bummer. I am going to the book signing in St Louis Friday night, and really looking forward to it. Hope I am not disappointed too.
Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to the Sunday signing and planning on getting there plenty early.
