SAMMY'S NEW YEAR WITH NICKELBACKERS AND RED HOT CHILI PEPPER.
January 06, 2004
If your New Year's was anything like ours, you
probably don't remember much of it. But Cabo San Lucas
transplant Sammy Hagar is one dude who had a pretty memorable
New Year's celebration from the sounds of it. First off, not only did it
stretch well into the 2nd of January, but it involved Red Hot Chili
Pepper Chad Smith filling in on drums during a performance, and
a few drinks shared with Nickelback's Chad and Mike Kroeger.
And if you need ask what their drink of choice probably was, then
we'll pass it over to Hagar himself so he can remind you of his
favorite libation. (Actuality #1) "I became a fan of real tequila the
first time I ever tasted it, in the town of Tequila. And it blew my
mind because most of the stuff we grew up on is stuff that you end
up in the bathroom throwing up. So when I opened The Cabo
Wabo, a long time ago, I built it to be a tequila bar." Of course
Sammy's referring his bar down in Cabo San Lucas. His next
engagement will be a little less hedonistic -- Sammy and his band,
The Waboritas, will be doing a benefit performance for Tony La
Russa's Animal Rescue Foundation in Walnut Creek, California.
The benefit, which takes place tomorrow, will raise funds to save
dogs and cats who've run out of time at public shelters.
