Last Friday Sammy hosted the annual Mai Tai mixing competition at Lefty O’Doul’s Restaurant in San Francisco. Eleven bartenders from Bay Area bars and restaurants were invited to participate in the event, with the winners earning a chance to compete in the annual Don the Beachcomber Mai Tai Festival in Kona, Hawaii in August.

Winning Drink: Sammy’s Mai Tai
Ingredients:
Orange, Pineapple & Cherry muddled
1.5 Oz Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum
.5 Oz Pavan
.5 Oz Pomegranate Juice
Float Sammy’s Red
Garnish Mint Spring

Winning Drink: Red Rocker
Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz. Sammy's beach bar rum
~ 1oz. Fresh pineapple juice
~ 1oz. Fresh guava juice
~ 1/2 oz. Fresh coconut juice
~ 1/4 oz. Orgeat
~ juice of 1/2 lime
~ 1/2 oz. Float of Sammy's red head
In shaker add white rum, pineapple,guava,coconut,lime and orgeat. Shake hard and strain over crushed ice in 13 oz. Mai tai glass. Float red macadamia rum. Garnish with orchid, pineapple frown, bruised mint leaf and two orange twists tied in bow.
