Oct. 9, Back in line @ 5 AM -- this time allot more people. We got our armbands just fine. When we arrived at the Cabo Wabo about 8:00 PM there was about 100 people standing outside looking for tickets to get in. The house band played and did a good job from 8 to 9:30 PM. You could tell there was allot more electricity in the air because everyone knew Michael Anthony was in the house. Then out on the upper walk comes a traditional Mexican Mariachi Band and plays a couple of songs leading up the Grand Entrance of just Sammy, Michael, and David Lauser, all in Mexican Mariachi Hats and grinning from ear to ear. Just the 3 of them hit the stage and proceeded to rip into several classic rock & roll songs I've never heard them play. With Sammy on guitar and Michael on bass, both took turns lead singing on The Who's " Wont' Get Fooled Again" & Led Zeppelin's "Communication Breakdown" & "Good Times Bad Times" to which Sammy all of the sudden stopped, looked around and said "Wow- That's something we've never done before!". Him and Michael were having a blast -- A PARTY! They continued to crank it out and pass around the Cabo Tequila --- then Vic came on. They then ran thru several old Van Halen. In the end they closed with a long and rousing "Best Of Both Worlds". Wow what a night!! What a Party!!
Out front we were just standing around talking and then there was Vic. One of the nicest guys you could ever talk to. I gave him a copy of my Cabo Wabo Birthday Invitation that my wife gave me in August. He said he'd e-mail--I hope so. This was my 1st trip to Cabo--but won't be my last.
